Wind turbines spin in existing wind, don't see how that can cause warming vs a wind machine that creates artificial wind that is used to keep crops from freezing.

Not really sure just what (or how) they mean it. But any cable which carry power gets warmer the more power it carry. Much like the way a power transformer heats up with use.
Then metal poles do reflect the heat from sunlight. Plus less trees which produce shade allowing the ground to soak up more warmth from the sun.
And while I do think that added heat from wind farms is minor, so it the waste from a car. But when you start having hundreds of them it can add up.
