Dr. House is a fictional Doctor, who is based on Sherlock Holmes, who is a fictional detective, who is based on Dr. Bell, a real doctor who inspired Sir Arthur Conan Doyle to write his detective stories.
Any of the Sherlock Holmes books. I have always been a big fan of these short stories. And in the non book form, Jeremy Brett played the best and true to form Sherlock Holmes. I am usually more a fan of non fiction, but these are fun and take you to a simpler time and let your imagination create your own unique London and your own unique characters living in the 1800's. Here is an amazingly good quality video (considering it is 70 years old) of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle talking about how he came up with the Sherlock Holmes character. From 1929 I believe.
I had to laugh when he refers to his Holmes character as a " monstrous growth" lol
