When I heard this...
"To those who cling to power through corruption and deceit and the silencing of dissent, know that you are on the wrong side of history; but that we will extend a hand if you are willing to unclench your fist."
I immediately thought he was talking to his own party...

Glad I missed it, for I would have seen it the same way.
Whenever I hear a speech I first always apply it to the speaker to see how much matches his own beliefs. Then to whatever group the speaker is a member of. Then to whoever I think he may be speaking of.
But if I see where any of it apply to him or his party, I think to myself (and sometimes out loud) you need to clean your own house first, before you start throwing stones.

He certainly couldn't have been talking about the Bush administration. They were probably the least corrupt administration in history.

Obama's policies, in my opinion, are just plain wrong. He is too inexperienced to run the executive branch the way it needs to be run.
But Obama the man has my full respect. I've seen nothing but class, poise and professionalism come from the guy. I can't imagine that he would be one to try to silence dissent.

It seems I am one of the few people on the planet who is not impressed with Obama's alleged oratory skills.

Oratory is a real talent. Of course it can also conceal a lack of substance and doesn't get ANYTHING done by itself.
That being said, I sincerely hope he has weight behind the good words.

Very true, but I just can't see Obama letting it happen. Then again, propaganda and molding public opinion has always been mastered by the Commies.

It seems I am one of the few people on the planet who is not impressed with Obama's alleged oratory skills. I quite agree. IMHO he is nothing more than a slick talking snake-oil salesman. He thinks that his oratory is going to carry him through. What crap. I would like to be a fly on the wall when he starts talking his smoothie bunk to the hostiles in Iraq, Afganistan or Iran. They'll laugh in his face. Those people do not want dialogue, they want to destroy us, simple as that. It takes two diplomats to compromise, it doesn't work with one diplomat and a hostile. He clearly doesn't understand Jihad and the total committment that goes with that. Those people have been killing each other off for centuries, there is deep seated hatred there, and 44 thinks he'll fix that. The guy just makes me want to puke on my shoes.
