bungalowbillscw.blogspot.com/search/label/Downsize%20CaliforniaIf you break down California by red county and blue county, there are 45 red counties and 13 blue counties. The 45 red counties are tired of high taxes, over regulating of everything, and the limits put on them by environmentalism. Assemblyman Bill Maze has a solution, not a new solution, but a solution none-the-less. He is proposing the 45 more conservative counties in California to form their own state and let the liberal left coast have their higher taxes and environmentalism. Their Web site, Downsize California states their mission. (Personally, maybe it's time to think about doing this nationally.) click above to read more Interesting would make for some different voting patterns

No kidding. And think of all the electoral votes.
San Francisco can be the new capitol of the Left Wing Coast.

The liberals will oppose this.
They need the productive red counties for the tax revenues to be taken from them, and then handed out to blue county tax users in the form of welfare checks and/or other assistance.

No, the mountain people of Virginia who had almost no slaves and no use for slaves in their hilly and rocky land, always had a strong antipathy for the "Tidewater People" of coastal Virginia. They separated by themselves, almost without any Union intervention. In the end it was for unfortunate circumstances that they separated from Virginia.... they did not want to "fight for the Darkies". Joe

I think they make a good argument. I know I would have left California years ago had I had to endure what many people put up with there. Personally, it seems California, which is bigger than many countries, isn't well represented by it's two Senators who rarely see the needs of the 45 counties mentioned. You have a state as little as Wyoming who has just over 100,000 people compared to California with a population around 37 million people.
from article ____________________________
Then California should declare war on Wyoming, using the State Militia.

Now if we could just fence them in for about 20 years to make a real study case out of it I would be all for it.

I'm sure most of the posts in this thread are tongue in cheek, but just in case some aren't...there is one little problem call The Constitution of the United States: Article IV - The States
Section 3 - New States
New States may be admitted by the Congress into this Union; but no new States shall be formed or erected within the Jurisdiction of any other State; nor any State be formed by the Junction of two or more States, or parts of States, without the Consent of the Legislatures of the States concerned as well as of the Congress.
As much as I'd like to see California broken up...

Joe I've heard many times that the above was part of the agreement when Texas became a state, not withstanding The Constitution. If anyone can prove this, I'd appreciate it. Someone from Texas maybe?
