OK, this is not a banned book, but this is the best place for this:
I have read these Harry Potter books in this order: Deathly Hallows, Order of the Phoenix and Half Blood Prince.
Quite frankly, I think the writing is horrible. The only author I dread reading more then Rowling is Hemmingway. It seems Rowling makes things up as she goes along to fill in pieces from the last plot/subplot.
I’ve seen all of the movies and find that unless you have just read the book before seeing the movies, it is hard to understand and follow.

And yet the kids seem to find meaning (or a pleasant waste of time from chores) from watching (the movie), or having the books read to them. Could this perhaps be the reason? Teen Brains Clear Out Childhood ThoughtsIf I am reading this right, does this mean a child uses more of there brain then an adult?

I think you may need to start in the beginning with Chamber of Secrets. I think that is the first one. There were many things I had difficulty visioning - like a Quiddich match. I have enjoyed the movies - but a movie can never compare to a book.

These Harry Pottery books are not "banned" per se by any civil authority, but millions of households and thousands of church leaders treat them as some kind of radioactive witchcraft that must be ignored. (I'm betting if they could, they would burn all of them in a massive bon-fire). But, they have a right to burn a book just like anyone else. I once burned a copy of "Mein Kampf" that an idiot friend of my presented to me as a Christmas present in order to amuse me. $15 down the drain for him. Joe

Of course they should be supervising what their kiddies read. But to call Harry Pottery witchcraft? Absurd. That's not always the main issue. We did not have problems with The Wizard of Oz or The Chronicles of Narnia, which also have supernatural themes. Our dd did not read HP at home, but that was mostly a timing issue. Had she been younger when the books were written, I think we still would not have bought them. We also had issues with most of what Judy Blume wrote and the Babysitters Club series. We had some problems with the way some subject matter was treated, and with the attitudes and choices of some of the characters. Same with a lot of tv shows. We did not encourage shows where the characters were disrespectful or devious. We did not shelter from most news and used current events as a way to develop critical thinking and talk about issues and ethics. But we felt that kids in general and our daughter in particular often take on the character qualities of their role models, and I was not about to live with ALF. We were also very careful about the sports figures we admired. James Worthy, yes, Dennis Rodman, no.

I didn't vote for several reasons: 1) I think legislators make poor presidents - they are experts are political posturing, not making important decisions. 2) Neither of the two major candidates had any plans that convinced me they were ready for the job. 3) A vote for an independent candidate is a waste of a vote. 4) I was too lazy to register for an absentee ballot.
But, back to the topic. I've never read any Harry Potter books nor have I seen any of the movies. I don't know what the hoopla is over the series. But many of our mainstream Christian holidays are celebrated from Pagan origins with Pagan celebrations. I see banning one type of anti-Christian activity while embracing others as a bit hypocritical.
