Put me in Palin's camp. Where is the "tolerance" toward the families of the victims?

Heard yesterday that a Greek Orhodox Church, across the street from Ground Zero, destroyed in the attack isn't being allowed to rebuild.

Heard yesterday that a Greek Orhodox Church, across the street from Ground Zero, destroyed in the attack isn't being allowed to rebuild. Yep. St. Nicholas Orthodox. The Port Authority of NY and NJ are not even talking to the church. In my opinion, property owners at the time of the attack go to the head of the line. Here in TN houses of worship and any other property they own are not assessed property taxes. Mosques, temples, synagogues, and churches are all treated the same. If that's true in NYC, a mosque is not in the best interest of the citizens of NYC. I want to know who is fast-tracking this and why.

I asked libs why they are all of a sudden championing religious freedom for this mosque when they never have championed religious freedom before and they have no answer.

Not really. Financing is not in place for the mosque, either, and they won't disclose how they are raising the money.
The Port Authority is not even talking to the church, but they are fast-tracking the mosque. Why? I think someone needs to subpoena those transcripts and find out.

It was saying they could rebuild on present location using thier own money, or somewhere else if using govt money. Sounds like the P.A. wants them to move so they can aquire the property. Govt money to help build a new church, ought to annoy the Libs.

Yes, it's very odd that all this commotion is being made over a mosque that hasn't raised any significant money as of yet. I'm curious as to what the real objective is to fast-tracking a thus far an intiative with no financial backing.

I'm all for their constitutional right to practice their religion wherever they want. But it's darn insensitive to consider the potential for issues and problems down the road and only blocks away from the largest Muslim "accomplishment" in recent years.

Maybe the Port Authority should say to the Muslims, "You know what? Once you people pay to rebuild the church, then come back and we'll talk."

Speaking of insensitive, this is like someone asking to build a monument to Timothy McVeigh at the site of the Alfred P. Murrah Building in Oklahoma City, or a memorial to Klebold and Harris at Columbine High School
Why does nobody see how inappropriate this is?
